At-Grade

A road built at ground level, rather than elevated or underground

Boulevard

A Wide, city street designed to move people safely while supporting businesses, housing, walking, biking, and transit. Boulevard often include a center median with street trees.

Multimodal Transportation

A transportation system that gives people multiple options for travel including walking, using mobility devices, biking, scootering, taking transit, and driving.

Traffic Evaporation

The phenomenon where vehicle trips no longer happen on a given road when its capacity is reduced as a result of different human choices: changing routes, traveling at a different time, using other options for transportation, combining trips for nearby activities and errands, choosing destinations closer to home.

Induced Demand

The phenomenon where additional trips are made in a given road when road capacity is increased because people change routes, travel at different times, make trips they previously avoided, choose destinations farther away, or switch from other transportation options to driving.
