What if Milwaukee’s downtown transportation system reflected the city we are today?
About Rethink 794
Rethink 794 is citizen-led project made up of planners, architects, community leaders, and everyday residents from the City of Milwaukee working toward a future where Milwaukee can thrive. Our goal is to replace this stretch of 794 with a people-focused, at-grade boulevard that reconnects the downtown and unlocks long-term social, environmental, and economic benefits for Milwaukee and the region. We know that transformational change isn't simple, but our community of volunteers is committed to an open and honest dialogue and imagining what's possible together.
Our events are sponsored by and coordinated in partnership with 1000 Friends of Wisconsin.
About 1000 Friends of Wisconsin
1000 Friends promotes land use policies and activities that advance healthy communities, positive economic outcomes and environmental benefits in Wisconsin.

1000 Friends advocates for transportation options that are clean, equitable and cost effective. We operate under the belief that a disproportionate focus on automobiles has encouraged sprawl, unsustainable land use patterns and contributed to transportation being the largest source of climate changing carbon emissions in the United States.

Our goal is to move Wisconsin towards a balanced, cost-effective, equitable transportation system that discourages sprawl and accelerates the decarbonization of the transportation sector.
